Will transparent areas remain transparent?+

Yes, for PNG and ICO exports. The filter transforms visible pixel colors while preserving alpha.

Is a monochrome PNG a Safari pinned-tab mask?+

No. A pinned-tab mask uses a suitable SVG silhouette. This tool exports raster images, not a mask-icon SVG.

What is threshold?+

Threshold maps lighter pixels to white and darker pixels to black. Moving the cutoff changes which details remain visible.
